Take ownership of payroll processes and support the payroll team across Christchurch in this 12-month fixed-term role.
What our client can offer:
Our client provides a structured work environment with clear payroll processes and defined responsibilities. The team operates collaboratively and values accuracy and compliance in payroll management. The role offers exposure to end-to-end payroll systems including SAP SuccessFactors. You will have opportunities to develop practical payroll experience and support multiple stores across the South Island. The position includes standard benefits and a salary aligned with mid-senior payroll experience.
What you will do:
Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll cycles accurately.
Maintain and update employee records including new hires, terminations, leave, salary adjustments, and deductions.
Review timesheets and payroll inputs for compliance with NZ legislation.
Respond to staff and manager queries regarding payroll.
Prepare reports for IRD, WINZ, Department of Statistics, and other relevant bodies.
Complete administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, and database updates.
Provide support to Payroll Specialists during peak periods or absences.
Skills and experience we are looking for:
2–4 years’ payroll experience or payroll-adjacent role in a medium-large organization
Experience with payroll systems, preferably SAP SuccessFactors or similar
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks under deadlines
Knowledge of NZ payroll legislation and compliance requirements
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and within a team
