What our client can offer
Our client is part of a globally recognised technology venture developing sophisticated positioning and control solutions for heavy machinery. With strong ties to New Zealand and international development hubs, the local team works on products that combine precision hardware, embedded systems, cloud connectivity, and intuitive software experiences. You’ll be contributing to technology that gives machine operators accurate, real-time guidance, helping them work smarter, faster, and more accurately in demanding field conditions.

What you’ll be doing
Working as part of a delivery-focused engineering team, you’ll design, build, and evolve core features within a large-scale earthworks system, with a strong focus on cloud connectivity and data services. You’ll collaborate closely with local and international engineers and domain experts on architecture, development scope, and testing, ensuring solutions deliver clear customer value.

The role involves maintaining and progressing Linux/ C++ technologies,alongside designing and building modern web frameworks using Angular, TypeScript etc. You’ll also contribute to distributed system design, applying sound software engineering practices to ensure predictability, quality, and long-term maintainability.

Skills and experience we are looking for:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in computer science, engineering, mathematics, mechatronics, or equivalent experience
• Commercial experience developing embedded software using C++
• Experience building web applications using TypeScript, ideally with Angular or a similar modern framework
• Exposure to full software development lifecycles, including specification, development, automated testing, continuous delivery, and documentation
• Strong collaboration, communication, and prioritisation skills
• A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a focus on building reliable, high-quality software

This opportunity is offered as a 1-year fixed-term contract, with flexibility to consider contractors.
