What our client can offer:
Our client hosts a complex, multi-disciplinary campus based in central Christchurch, with a specialist inhouse team providing a range of user, application and systems infrastructure support services. They are a young, professional and highly motivated team, with a strong focus on ensuring end users have a consistent user experience across a broad range of specialist technologies. Due to growth internally, they are looking to add to their team a mid career Systems Engineer/Administrator.
What you will do:
In this varied role, you will be primarily tasked with the management of a diverse Infrastructure environment which is spread across multiple, independently operating business units with two onsite server rooms.
You will be building, managing and supporting a number of virtual servers running on Windows and Linux, with connected storage, ensuring overall server health, allocating space, installing and upgrading applications, updating/upgrading operating systems, managing backups and restores. Your focus will be predominantly OS level up. Ideally you will also have a sound knowledge of networking and experience with an integration engine, integrating a number of specialist systems.
This is a great role to really stretch the breadth of your experience. At a system administration level, you can expect to be hands on with an O365 Tenant, SharePoint, Exchange and AD (in support). This is an on prem environment, however with a number of enterprise applications hosted by external vendors there will also be an element of support here.
Skills and experience we are looking for:
Due to the nature of the environment there is a 1 in 4 week on-call cycle requirement with this role, which is compensated in addition to base salary.
This is a great role for someone who is strong with structure and process, and keen to engage with a broad range of infrastructure technologies across the business. We are ideally seeking:
- A minimum of 3-5 years experience in a commercial systems engineering/admin setting
- A very strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an openness to being face to face with internal customers
- Team player, keen to support and grow with your team
